Primary School and Sportsground Approvals Mark a Defining Moment for Whiterock’s Growth
Before long, Whiterock families will be packing school bags and heading to training without needing to leave the community.
Whiterock has now secured approvals for two major community facilities: a new state primary school and a future sportsground.
For residents, these approvals bring the next phase of Whiterock into clearer view: an easier weekly rhythm, more time spent close to home, and the kind of school and sporting moments that help a neighbourhood feel established.
A local primary school, planned for the 2028 school year
Plans have now been approved for a new state primary school at Whiterock, targeted to open for the 2028 school year. The school will cater for Prep to Year 6 and is currently in the design phase, with construction expected to commence in late 2026.
The approval also allows for a broader school precinct, including kindergarten, alongside shared parking, shared path network, school-hour pick-up and drop-off, school bus bays and a future local bus stop.
For residents, a school within Whiterock has the potential to significantly reduce daily school-run commutes, giving families more time back in the week and more flexibility around work, sport and after-school activities.
“For a growing community like Whiterock, getting approval for the school is a big step. It’s the kind of essential infrastructure that really shapes everyday family life. This will help make the area even more liveable, creating a walkable, family‑friendly neighbourhood with education, early learning, and community spaces right at the centre” said Jeff Behrendorff, Development Manager NSW/QLD at Intrapac Property.
A future home for grassroots sport at Whiterock
Budding athletes will have a home ground to grow into at Whiterock, with the approved sportsgrounds set to include two rectangular fields and a cricket pitch.
Designed for everyday use, the current scope includes a Cricket and AFL field with lighting to Class V cricket standard, shared car parking, irrigation and an amenities block, with provision for a future sports clubhouse and shared path and footpath connections.
It will weave sport into the week at Whiterock, from after-school training to weekend games, creating a familiar place for families to turn up, support their team and spend time together.
“We have designed the sportsground to be at the centre of Whiterock. The sports lighting, amenities and infrastructure will help local clubs form and grow and host junior programs, training nights and match days. Over time, our hope is that it will become a meeting point and a source of pride for the area,” added Jeff Behrendorff.
Tree clearing is currently underway at the site, with construction scheduled to start in early 2026, and the oval expected to open later in the year.
From approval to delivery
These two approvals sit within Whiterock’s broader masterplan, which also includes the future Whiterock Village Hub. This will integrate the primary school and sporting precinct with a vibrant town centre offering shopping, dining, health and childcare services.
Alongside that longer-term vision, residents are already seeing early amenities delivered, including the Adventure Playground and Water Play Area, the Whiterock Community House, and an expanding network of paths, parks and green links.
“With approvals now in place for the primary school and sportsground, Whiterock is moving from planning into delivery on the facilities that will shape day-to-day life here. It reflects the way we approach development at Intrapac: take the time to work through the detail, invest where it genuinely lifts the long-term outcome, and deliver communities people are proud to be part of,” concluded Jeff.
