At Aureus, connection grows through shared well-being. Local trainer Emma Le Sueur, who runs The Fit Way group, began an outdoor fitness session series soon after the estate’s Village Green was completed. The classes have become as much about community as exercise.
“It’s not just a workout. Everyone encourages each other, and the friendships that have formed make people want to keep coming back. It’s a supportive group, and that energy spreads through the neighbourhood.”

More than 200 people attended, gathering for food, music and family fun in an atmosphere that reflected what Whiterock is all about.
“You will see neighbours meeting for the first time, people who’d only ever waved across the street, stopping to talk, and families spending time together. That’s what community looks like in practice,” said Viane.

At Kinley, events like the annual Easter and Halloween celebrations have become key moments for the growing community. The most recent Halloween event drew more than 160 RSVPs, with families arriving in costume to enjoy games, food and music at the Sales and Discovery Centre and surrounding wetlands.
Tristan, a Kinley resident, says these events have been vital in helping families settle in and feel part of the community.
“The events here are incredible for supporting the community. You get to know your neighbours, your kids make friends, and there’s a real sense of people looking out for each other. It makes Kinley feel like home.”

At Banyan Hill Estate near Ballina in NSW, the spirit of connection was just as strong at the recent Block Party. What can you expect at a Banyan Block Party? Fun, friends and food! The event welcomed around 200 adults and families for an afternoon filled with music, food trucks and entertainment that showed how vibrant the new community is becoming.
Guests also explored the display village, where six homes from G.J. Gardner Homes, Perry Homes and Coral Homes were open to visitors. At G.J. Gardner’s displays, families collected cupcakes and showbags before watching The Wildlife Twins reptile show. Perry Homes offered complimentary snow cones, while Coral Homes hosted lawn games including Jenga, Connect 4 and Cornhole.
For many attendees, the event offered a first glimpse of life at Banyan Hill and the strong sense of connection that will define the community as it grows.

Meet Amy
Driven by her passion for helping people, Amy decided to follow her dreams and pursue a qualification in counselling.
After noticing that it could take up to 12 months for someone to secure an appointment with a psychologist, she established a counselling service at the Whiterock Community House to extend kindness and provide timely assistance to local residents.
Her goal is to create a safe, approachable space where anyone can come at any time and feel supported. Amy works with individuals and families across a wide range of needs, focusing on listening, providing guidance, and helping people feel less isolated.
“We’re here as a very safe place to open up and communicate,” said Amy.
Meet Tracy
Tracy brings a wealth of nursing experience from a variety of different specialties to the Whiterock Community House, where she now works as a dedicated child health nurse.
The Child Health program offers Whiterock families support with everything from growth and weight checks to sleep routines, feeding concerns and general health advice.
Funded through the Putting Queensland Kids First Government Initiative, it runs every Thursday at the community centre and has quickly become a trusted service. Tracy is passionate about making sure parents feel heard and supported in an approachable, inclusive environment.
“There’s just nothing quite like working with children and families, particularly in lovely spaces,” said Tracy.
“I’m very grateful to be part of it.”
Meet Kimberley
Kimberley has been running the sensory playgroup, Sunny Jack’s, at the Whiterock Community House since March of this year.
An advocate for mum’s mental health, and knowing how tough it is to raise a family, she wanted to create a safe space for mums to come together and play with their little ones.
The playgroup focuses on sensory activities that encourage children to explore, learn and develop while also giving parents the chance to take a breath and form meaningful friendships. For Kimberley, it is as much about creating a supportive environment for mothers as it is about engaging the children.
“I really enjoy seeing the connections that they build with each other,” said Kimberley
“Whether that’s from this community or other communities, it really brings everyone together.”
Meet Katie
Whiterock local Katie first came to the Community House simply as a neighbour wanting to share her love of yoga. What started as a casual Tuesday night group has now become a cherished part of the community calendar, with many affectionately calling it the “sleep circle” thanks to the restful nights that follow.
Her classes are less about the workout and more about the work in. They offer an opportunity for people to tune into what their bodies need and take a pause from busy routines.
“The most important thing for me in my classes is that yoga is for everybody,” said Katie.
“My big driving force is to bring as much peace, joy and ease into people’s lives as I can.”

There was something for everyone. Children lined up for balloon creations and roamed between bubbles, henna painting and a frozen-themed jumping castle. Creative stations offered hands-on fun, while fire pits invited groups to toast marshmallows and make s’mores. Local food trucks served hearty dishes including fresh gnocchi and bratwurst, and live acoustic performances created an easy-going energy throughout the park.
As the sun set, the crowd gathered for the final act: a colourful light show that brought the day to a close with a shared sense of wonder and pride.

For Community Development Officer Viane, the event was a valuable moment to meet new residents and see first-hand the strength of the local spirit.
“It really showed how much people want to connect,” said Viane. “There were neighbours meeting for the first time, people who’d only ever waved across the street having full conversations, and kids who’ll likely be lifelong friends.”
Viane also added to the festivities, performing live music and welcoming guests from the stage.

Viane brings a wealth of experience and passion to his role, drawing on a strong background in town planning and community development.
Originally from New Zealand, Viane completed his bachelor’s degree in town planning before earning a master’s in planning in the UK. He has since worked extensively across both Australia and New Zealand, combining his planning expertise with a deep commitment to community engagement.
At Whiterock, he’s excited to help foster a sense of belonging through events, clubs and initiatives that encourage neighbours to support one another by embracing close-knit community values.
“I’m really looking forward to the opportunities here at the Community House. I’m hoping we’ll be able to start a variety of different community programs and connect with local schools to provide opportunities for extracurricular clubs,” shared Viane.
